Following are some of the comments we have received from residents attending the APRIL 11th meeting, as well as those left on this web site.  (Special thanks to the COURIER)

PLEASE - KEEP THE COMMENTS COMING!!!

“Out of the three options, this one is the most environmentally impacting. Had I known this was possible, I wouldn’t have bought property here.”

Bryan Young

College Grove

“We’re not happy…there’s not a lot you can do about it.”

Bob and Cheryl Montgomery

Rockvale

“We moved out here a long time ago because it was a nice area, but things keep coming our way,” says Annette Wileczek of Rockvale. “I’m worried about my children’s safety.”

“I don’t even know what we’re going to do,” adds Wileczek’s son James.

If the lines go in, the Wileczeks will view transmission lines from their front porch. “(It’s so close) we could hit it with a rock,” says James sadly.

The Wileczeks question what will happen to historically significant property, including Indian mounds and altars and the highest lookout point used during the Civil War, all of which will be affected by the construction.

The Mattsons of Rockvale are one of dozens who bought property without any type of TVA easement. Against their wishes, TVA will enact eminent domain and cross transmission lines over their property.

“We moved out to the country to get away from this seven years ago. We’re going to have to move, which we don’t want to do at all.”

"The option 4 which runs very close to Rockvale school should not even be a consideration. Our children should not be put in harms way by subjecting them to increased cancer risks. It is outrageous that TVA is not concerned for our children's safety."

"We bought property on Owen Hill Road in Williamson County, and had no idea a TVA powerline was coming through behind us.  We are concerned with the not only the health issues of these towers, but also the environmental threat to the beautiful historical countryside of the hills.  If no additional transmission line easements would be needed for the first choice of TVA, which is the Brentwood substation, and TVA is concerned about ""goodwill""  with the public, I would like to know why this first choice which would help all of Williamson County aesthetically, would be ruled out!"

"We are devasted!  Have 3 children, and are considering selling our property.  When I saw older people who came in to look at the maps TVA had,  where they had grown up, and couldn't believe a tower was coming across their farmland...I broke into tears with them.  These farms have been in their families  for years, and have been passed down for generations. These are our hardworking farmers who deserve to retain the beauty and  dignity of their land.  Please TVA, listen to these people.  Has the Brentwood option where no more land has to be destroyed been truly researched properly? "

"I would be willing to go door to door in my community.  It would be helpful if I had something for them to sign or anything in hand I could leave with them.  We have a Horse Breeding facility and they are going right over us.  I will be I will be gathering information on how we will be effected.  Thanks for getting this started. Please call or e-mail on anything I can do."

"We are strongly against this and will be a part of the fight against it."

"I am VERY AGAINST this TVA expansion!!!!!!!This is right across our property where we have a family of 5 that we've just built a new home on that we entend on retiring in and our parents are next door that have just built a home as well and ARE Retired!!!!! This is NOT in any of our best interest!!!!We moved here to be in the country and to have a nice place to retire!! NOT to have our homes and property decrease in value, let alone the safety of our children and families!!!!!!!!!!"

Thank you for what you are doing. I moved to my little home to get away from the big city. I find it absolutely abhorrent that our area is considered uninhabited. My neighbors and I live here, turkey, deer, snails, barn owls, blue birds, coyote, etc, etc, etc inhabit my little bit of heaven. Use me as you need.

I am concerned about negative impact on the cave system that runs through the Rockvale area. We have many sink holes in our area. There is even a ‘fissure’ along S. Windrow Road. Digging holes and the use of heavy equipment dredging across this area has to have a negative impact. I was told there would be no blasting, however, any drilling will disturb the established ecosystem in our area.

According to TVA, this area is considered undeveloped. This area is NOT undeveloped. This area is developed exactly as we want it to be. The very reason we moved to Rockvale was to be in a quiet uncluttered area where animals and plants surround us and the view is beautiful. I choose to drive so far to work because I love my area.

"Good Afternoon,

Please take the time to contact your US and State representatives. It only takes a few minutes and could make a big difference. Do to the delay in routing US Mail, Email works best.

Good luck to all,

"A couple of points that you will not post on your website b/c the truth stings very badly.

1.  You are the cause of the growth that brings the power lines.

2.  TVA bought the right of way before you bought your property.

3.  If utility companies buy right of ways, that means that they will eventually build on it.  Don't buy land w/ easements on it or near it!!!

4.  Most people think that the area is big enough after they get here.  Wrong way of thinking, refer to #1.

5.  The power companies are here to serve the people in the area.  The population growth creates power lines, thus stop selling your land or buy all the land you can and stop the development cycle.

6.  Greed will overcome #5.

Thank you for taking the time to read the truth about the matter.  I don't like the power lines anymore than the next guy, but until the growth stops the sewer, water, telephone, cable, and power lines will keep coming!!!

Sincerely,

Johnny Ronson

"I am OUTRAGED that TVA is proposing to run power lines right beside Rockvale Elementary School.  As a teacher in Rutherford County, I am concerned about the safety of our children.  As a citizen of Rockvale, I DO NOT want to lose up to 30% of my property value just for being near a TVA power line.  I am willing to fight and do whatever it takes to keep TVA from choosing path 4 and running these harmful power lines through my backyard!"

"Spring Hill and Columbia will be affected as well. I find it disturbing that they are violating their own policy of a 185-200 foot easement for 500kv lines. My property already has a 161kv line on a 175 foot easement, and now they say they will put a 500kv right beside it!

TVA kicked my family off land for the TVA Columbia Damn (abandoned project) and now they want to use an easement near my land that was for the Hartsville Nuclear plant. (Abandoned Project).

Is there a pattern of failed projects for TVA?"
